LINCOLN – Michael S. Borders, Gary G. Peterson, and Tami K. Schendt, all of Broken Bow, have submitted applications for appointment as County Judge in the 8th Judicial District consisting of Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Custer, Garfield, Greeley, Holt, Howard, Keya Paha, Loup, Rock, Sherman, Valley, and Wheeler counties. The primary place of office for the judicial vacancy is Broken Bow, Nebraska. The vacancy is due to the retirement of Judge Gary G. Washburn.
The public hearing of the Judicial Nominating Commission will be held in the District Courtroom at the Custer County Courthouse located in Broken Bow, Nebraska, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012. The Commission will review all applicants for the office at that time.
The public is welcome to attend the hearing and present information concerning candidates for the judicial opening. Persons, if any, wishing to publicly comment favorably on qualifications of the applicants should attempt to coordinate with the applicants. Public comments, if any, in opposition to the applicants will be received at the hearing.
