Lincoln – Lancaster County Court Judge Mary Doyle is retiring March 31, 2013, after more than 22 years on the bench. She recently submitted a resignation letter to the Governor, noting, “Over the years I have seen many changes in the way the court functions. I believe the computerization of the courts has resulted in a much more efficient system bringing justice to citizens in a more efficient manner.”
Doyle also remarked on her experience on the Lancaster County Court bench saying, “I have had the opportunity to work with judges, officials, staff, and attorneys who have acted in the best interests of the citizens of Nebraska. My colleagues on the Lancaster County bench are very hardworking, dedicated jurists. The employees of the court have provided loyal support for me and I appreciate all their hard work.”
The first step in replacing Judge Doyle will be for the Judicial Resources Commission to call a meeting to determine whether or not, based on judicial workload statistics, the retirement of Judge Doyle creates a vacancy in the Third Judicial District (Lancaster County Court).
