Melanie Stormer Named Chief Probation Officer for District One in Nebraska

Ms. Melanie Stormer has been named Chief Probation Officer for District 1 Probation (Fillmore, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Saline, and Thayer Counties). She will begin her new position on February 6, 2023.

Stormer notes that she “believes in the importance of being a part of the community she serves,” adding that she was motivated to move to Nebraska by her desire to return to service in a court within a rural community.

Stormer has over 20 years of experience, including service as a Chief Probation Officer of a rural jurisdiction, probation supervisor, clinical supervisor for the problem-solving court, program coordinator (Big Brothers and Big Sisters) for youth, and most recently served as a national consultant involving the training, education, and coaching for officers and justice stakeholders on evidence-based practices. Stormer has also served as an adult and juvenile probation officer.

She is currently a resident of Illinois.
