Safe and Healthy Families Initiative to Present Inaugural Bob Moyer Memorial Award for Excellence in the Practice of Domestic Violence and Celebrate the first year of operation of the Lincoln-based Problem-Solving Court

The Safe and Healthy Families Initiative is proud to announce the presentation of the first annual Bob Moyer Memorial Award for Excellence in the Practice of Domestic Violence. The award ceremony will take place during a celebratory luncheon on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at noon in the Courtroom of Judge Elise White at the Lancaster County Courthouse.

Chief Justice Mike Heavican will give opening remarks and Lindsey Turner is the Associate Executive Director at Voices of Hope, will present the excellence award to a distinguished member of the Safe and Healthy Families Problem-Solving court team. The award recipient, nominated by peers, will be recognized for outstanding contributions to problem-solving court practice.

About the Problem-Solving Court: The Safe and Healthy Families Court provides an alternative route through the juvenile court system for families facing domestic violence challenges. Employing a specialized team process within the existing court structure, the court is presided over by Judge Elise White, recently honored with the Nebraska Distinguished Judge Award for Service to the Community for the establishment of the program.

The Lincoln-based court is the only one of its kind in Nebraska.

The luncheon will also serve as a celebration of the first anniversary of the court's approval as a problem-solving court, featuring a presentation on data from the court's inaugural year.
